RDP Local Security Authority cannot be contacted

Security by obscurity or a bug? I don’t now which it is, but it always seems to happen on a Monday morning. You RDP to a server and you get a popup message box telling you that the RDP Local Security Authority cannot be contacted. Hmmm, misconfiguration? Server needs a reboot? Is it a bird or a plane… superman?

Nope. It’s as prosaic as your password has expired. No idea why RDP stops working in this way it’s annoying!

There are other reasons you might see this message but check the obvious first has your password expired! It’s easy for us to skip a few faulting steps when we get an issue and this is just a reminder that you MUST do the basic checks before moving straight to the complex ones.
